Do you think your horse may have stomach ulcers? Do you know someone who worries that their horse may have ulcers?
Merial (the makers of GastroGard) is sponsoring a Gastroscopy Clinic at Meddleton Equine Hospital on Friday May 13, 2011. We will scope horses for anyone who wishes to participate and will hold an educational Gastric Ulcer Presentation by Dr. Frank Hurtig, DVM, MBA, Director, Merial LAVS.
The only way to know for sure if your horse has stomach ulcers is still to pass a long endoscope and look into the horse's stomach. This usually costs $300+, but if you have a horse that you suspect has gastric ulcers, bring your horse to the hospital to be scoped for the cost of the sedation only ($50). This is your chance to have an advanced diagnostic procedure for almost no cost.
Finding out for sure if your horse has ulcers via gastroscopy can help prevent you from wasting your money treating ulcers unnecessarily.
If you would like to bring your horse in to be scoped, you must call in advance to reserve your spot. First come-first served. 505-867-5567 All are welcome to the presentation from 12:30- 1:30 PM.
NOTE: You will have to remove all feed from your horse after the morning feeding the day before scoping.
