In the case of a natural disaster emergency such as fire or flood you should all have a plan in mind for what to do with your horses. This includes where to bring them, how to get them there, what to have with you when you take them, etc.

Trailer

Plastic trash barrel with a lid, plastic lawn garbage bags, tarpaulins, water buckets, leads and halters, portable radio, flashlight, batteries, knife, scissors, wire cutter, (leatherman), duct tape, leg wraps, bleach, and a water storage tank for your trailer.

  1. Have halter plates made up with the horses name, your name, and a phone number stamped on them and attach them to the halters.
  2. Consider having your horse micro-chipped for positive identification.
  3. Make arrangements in advance for possible trailering options and keep a laminated, updated list at the barn.
  4. Try to bring hay if possible.
  5. Carry a cell phone.

  16. Ophthalmic saline (contact solution) and eye ointment
