Wildfire Smoke and Your Horse

In response to the smoke and ash from the Arizona Wallow Fire, the New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association would like to issue a smoke advisory for pets and livestock. Keeping pets inside when possible and restricting exercise is advised. Smoke is a complex mixture of many potentially harmful substances and prolonged exposure increases the risks of respiratory damage. Animals compromised by age, obesity, or chronic respiratory disease should be monitored closely.
